Relational Theology

Spiritual Theology is learning to know and love God, along with Mystical Thought, belief that God lives within those who have entered into relationship with Him that we find expression of our reconciled relationship to God.

This is what I refer to as relational theology. This relationship gives us self understanding and direction for  walking humbly with our God.

When God sends Moses to Egypt, He says, “bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” Moses asked God, the God of Abraham, what name he should give if he is asked who has sent him. God replies “I Am what I Am” (Ehyeh-Asher-Ehyeh, אֶֽהְיֶ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר אֶֽהְיֶ֑ה) Exodus 3:14.

Jesus, the Messiah declares Himself to be the same God. “Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.  The essence of God does not change. Everything other than God changes. In theology and philosophy what does not change is refereed to as immutable. Everything that can be observed can be seen to change.

What God is, God is. He has always been what He is, and He will always be what He is. Because God does not change, His perspective is the only unchanging reference point in all of existence. It is from God’s viewpoint alone that everything — including every person — receives its true and final value. Our ultimate identity and worth are not found in how we see ourselves, how the world sees us, or even in what we think our relationship with God is. They are found in our actual relationship with Him.
  • Objects are defined by their relationships to other objects.
  • The more comprehensively and accurately those relationships are described, the more precisely each object can be defined.
  • All relationships are in a constant state of flux.
  • There are no self-sustaining creations, nor will there ever be.
  • Everything that has a beginning is dependent upon a set of circumstances for its continued existence.
