I could as easily have title this Listening to Hear, as a relationship is implied. One cannot receive a message unless there is a sender.

What matters is that hearings be perceived, understood, and acted on. It is the manner and amplitude of the hearings which vary. Meaning is then attached. The self perceiving can weigh, value and judge these impressions.

  1. I hear in a tone more clear, more amplified, and this, I attribute to my conscious mind. My conscious mind is as clear as waves of sound but this conscious mind is persistent, whereas waves of sound come and go.
  2. I hear waves of sound with ears, physically verifiable sound waves.
  3. I hear things that I attribute to the a conscious mind, which may bleed from my subconscious to my conscious mind. It arrives complete as though the summing up of some unknown conversation.
  4. I hear things that I attribute to spirit/truth/life, which hearings I call revelation,   which may be about myself or about another truth.
  5. I hear things I attribute to God.

To me it makes sense that I would be keenly aware of those hearings which are physically observable. Further, it seems to me consistent that my conscious mind be as clear and more persistent, for without the conscious mind there would be no knowing of waves of sound.

We have varied senses and those do not make us multiple people. Why would any of the perceptions above not all be part of my one self? Do we listen to the other, less amplified hearing? If I had, and am not aware of a type of hearing, I could be said to be dead, numb, asleep, challenged, handicapped, etc., pertaining to that type of reception.

I call them hearings, perceptions. but they are not sound. They are all transmissions of one energy wave or another. Below is a story from the Bible. From this some aspects of these hearings can be understood.

Acts 8:26But an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, “Get up and go south to the road that descends from Jerusalem to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.) 27So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure; and he had come to Jerusalem to worship, 28and he was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah. 29Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.” 30Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31And he said, “Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this: “HE WAS LED AS A SHEEP TO SLAUGHTER; AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT, SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH. 33“IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY;
WHO WILL RELATE HIS GENERATION? FOR HIS LIFE IS REMOVED FROM THE EARTH.”

34The eunuch answered Philip and said, “Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself or of someone else?” 35Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. 36As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, “Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?” 37[And Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”] 38And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing.
