Moses Prayer to God: Can There Be a Better Prayer?

Exodus 33:13 “Now therefore, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. Consider too, that this nation is Your people.”

Consider too, that this nation is Your people.” mythouhgts, thoughtsofgod, thoughts of God, moses prayer to God - Could there be a better request

This is a timeless prayer. This is a prayer not limited to any culture. The fact that it is universally applicable speaks to its value to a wide range of people.

As I look not to the question, “what can I know about God”, but rather, “How can I know and love God”, I see how this verse may be employed.

By prayer we can all ask this same question, “let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight”. As I have thought for the last bit, I can not think of a more basic prayer, or one that is more applicable, over and over, as we see the works of God. As Christ said on earth,

  • John 10:25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me.
  • John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love
  • John 14:26 “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
  • John 14:8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
