Claims by Others Related to Jesus Being God

In Did Jesus Claim to be God, I said that I would post some of the verses I collected in putting that post together. This post will have the last group of verses I have collected. These relate to Jesus’s actions and the statements of those around Jesus identifying Him with God.

As other religions are teaching that Jesus never claimed to be God, I have put this group of posts together. I hope that in reading this you will see the truth, Jesus did claim; to be God, to be the Messiah, to be the Son of God, and to be “I Am.”

In this series I have tried to stay to two specific types of statements; 1) claims Jesus made about Himself, 2) what others said about Jesus, in His presence, which He did not correct. In the New Testament there are other verses where Jesus is proclaimed to be God, but again, This series is for those who are questioning if Jesus claimed to be God,

When I look at the claims of Jesus and of the statements of others about Jesus, Old Testament Statements about God come to mind. I have put a few in this column
Mark 9:3-5
3 and His garments became radiant and exceedingly white, as no launderer on earth can whiten them.
4 Elijah appeared to them along with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
5 Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here; let us make three tabernacles, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
6 For he did not know what to answer; for they became terrified. 7 Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”
8 All at once they looked around and saw no one with them anymore, except Jesus alone.
1) Jesus was with Moses and Elijah
2) It was Jesus who became radiant
3) It is Jesus about whom the Father says, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!”
9 “I kept looking Until thrones were set up, And the Ancient of Days took His seat; His vesture was like white snow And the hair of His head like pure wool. His throne was ablaze with flames, Its wheels were a burning fire.
Matthew 17:3-4 Suddenly Moses and Elijah appeared before them, talking with Jesus. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You wish, I will put up three shelters: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 1) Jesus is transfigured in the presence of Elijah and Moses  29 It came about when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses’ hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him.
Luke 9:33-34 As Moses and Elijah were leaving, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up threeshelters: one for You, one for Moses, and onefor Elijah.” (He did not know what he was saying.) 34 While Peter was speaking, a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and they were afraid as they entered the cloud. 1) Enveloped in a Cloud  4 Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD.
Mark 6:49-51 but when they saw Him walking on the sea, they cried out, thinking He was a ghost— 50 for they all saw Him and were terrified. But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not” be afraid. 51Then He climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. And the disciples were utterly astounded, 1) Walking on the Water

John 9:4-6 5 “While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world.” 6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes, 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which is translated, Sent). I have come that they may have life, and have it in all its fullness. 11I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. 1) He Is the Gate

3 Know that the LORD Himself is God;  It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

John 11:24-25 Martha replied, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He whobelieves in Me will live, even though he dies. 26 And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. John 14:6 V-PI-1S 5 “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where You are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. John 15:1-2  I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. 2 He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful. 1) Jesus is the Vine 1 Then a shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse,  And a branch from his roots will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.
John 15:4-6 Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. 5 I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. John 18:36-37 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world; if it were, My servants would fight to prevent My arrest by the Jews. But now, My kingdom is not of this realm.” 37 “Then You are a king?” Pilate said. “You say that I am a king, Jesus answered.“For this reason I was born and have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to My voice.” 1) Jesus kingdom is rom above this world

John 16:31-33 “Do you finally believe?” Jesus replied. 32 “Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with Me. 33 I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. 2) Jesus Spoke to Paul after His resurrection and ascension
28 As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. 30 “But God raised Him from the dead; 31 and for many days He appeared to those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, the very ones who are now His witnesses to the people. 32 “And we preach to you the good news of the promise made to the fathers, 33 that God has fulfilled this promise to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, ‘YOU ARE MY SON; TODAY I HAVE BEGOTTEN YOU.’ 34 As for the fact that He raised Him up from the dead, no longer to return to decay, He has spoken in this way: ‘I WILL GIVE YOU THE HOLY and SURE blessings OF DAVID.’ 35 “Therefore He also says in another Psalm, ‘YOU WILL NOT ALLOW YOUR HOLY ONE TO UNDERGO DECAY.’

Revelation 2:22-23 Behold, I will cast her onto a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her will suffer great tribulation unless they repent of her deeds. 23Then I will strike her children dead, and all thechurches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. 1) Jesus Searches Minds

The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this.
